Recent Reads Three

Hi there, popping in with another book review! Catwoman: Soulstealer by Sarah J. Mass    This is the third book in the DC Icons series.     It's Selina Kyle's story, aka Catwoman. With Batman away from Gotham City, it seems ripe for the taking. But there's more to this cat than meets the eye, especially when she gets the attention of Batwing, aka Luke Fox, in the process. As havoc is unleashed and the mystery unfolds, they both have to watch their step as the darkness closes in.     This one was definitely a mixed bag. On one hand, it was chock full of other characters besides Catwoman, which made more than excellent appearances throughout the book. However, it also had a lot more language than I would like, and it was told partially from a villain's point of view. This I also had mixed feelings on; in my opinion, nothing justifies evil actions, even if it is for a loved one. It spent too much time trying to justify Selina's actions. I will

Robots in Film Blogathon

Image
Hello lovelies! This is my entry for my first ever blogathan! It's Robots in Film, hosted by  Hamlette's Soliloquy  and  Quiggy  at the Midnite Drive- In. I'll be covering the Transformers films and the robots in them. Here's the link to " Arrival to Earth " by Steve Jablonsky. I've played it on violin and it is epic! Highly recommend while you read! Autobot or Decipticon?    Move aside all other robots. These are the true killing machines and sentient beings. Their origins begin way back in the 80s, but they didn't get a live- action film until 2007. Special effects brought the robots to life, with detailed transforming sequences and large scale battle scenes. They've covered eleven years so far, from Transformers (2007) to Bumblebee (2018), with hopefully more to come. More than meets the eye.    The Transformers aren't just robots with cool abilities; they're an alien race, as intelligent and functioning as human

Inspiration Rant

Hey everybody! Hope everyone's having a great year so far. Are you completing your resolutions? Maybe just smiling a bit more? I had my wisdom teeth removed last week, so I swelled and bruised for a few days and couldn't eat solid foods or get my heart rate up without my jaws and head hurting. So. My resolutions aren't exactly being followed, but I'm hoping to change that soon. Whatever the case, I hope this finds you well and in good spirits. Or, in this case, the Twilight Zone .    Today I want to talk about one of my greatest sources of inspiration.    These things inspire me to be a better writer, period. In one form or another, they bleed into my writing and stories. I'll discuss that at the end on how it does so. Right now, I want to list the top five favorite things about the Twilight Zone .    As stated above, one of my greatest inspiration sources is the iconic anthology series the Twilight Zone . It ran for five seasons, from 1959- 1964. It's film

Recent Reads Two

Hello everybody! I just finished another book, so here's the review and opinions I promised to do in part  one . So, drumroll, please (aggressively pounds on table to mimic a drum).... Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu   This is the second book in the DC Icons series, a chain of unrelated stories by different authors that you don't have to read in order. Batman succeeds Wonder Woman: Warbringer . And what a worthy successor it is.   It tells the story of an eighteen- year- old Bruce Wayne, who, after stopping a criminal from getting away, is sentenced to community service in Arkham Asylum. Meanwhile, attacks are happening all over the city. Its a group called the Nightwalkers, and they're targeting Gotham's elite. Bruce is next, unless he can get help from an inmate in the Asylum, Madeleine Wallace. But he just might be playing into her hands.   Batman has always been a favorite of mine. So this book immediately jumped out at me. It's clear Marie

Know the Novel, Pt. 3

Know the Novel, Part 3: Writing and Beyond   Created, once again, by  Christine  over at Musings of an Elf, this is the third and final part of the Know the Novel series. This series is just so exciting for me, as it's become a way to express my novel and ideas to everyone out there. Here's the last ten questions for The Third Coming.  1. Firstly, how did writing this novel go all around?   Very well. I did it for NaNo, so it was done in a month. It was great that I had a schedule to keep to, that kept pushing me to finish. I should probably stick to that! I also felt as if everything flowed together pretty well, even if there were several rough patches.  2. Did it turn out like you expected, or completely different? And how do you feel about the outcome?   There were a few surprises along the way. I changed the beginning right off the bat, and it was a pleasant surprise, but I guess the descriptions could have been better. I already had the ending in m

Sensational Soundtracks: January

Image
Hello everybody! Welcome to my new series, Sensational Soundtracks! In this series, which will (hopefully) be updated monthly, I want to share some of my favorite movie music, appreciate the composers, and what's so special about it. Most, if not all, are great for writing, reading, or just simply listening. That said, I want to point out the one requirement for music here: it has to be most of the soundtrack. Sure, a movie may have a great theme, but if the whole thing isn't that great, it doesn't make the cut.   On another note, you probably noticed how I love to use alliteration whenever possible. I find it very pleasing.   So, here we go! Batman (1989) By Danny Elfman    Why this one, you may ask? Why not Hans Zimmerman's masterpieces from the Dark Knight ? While Hans is amazing, there's something very alluring about Elfman's music from the 1989 classic. I've only seen it once, but it was a great movie that I argue still holds up today.

A New Year

2019 2018 Recap   Hey everybody! Happy New Year's! I hope everybody had a a great year they can be proud of! I just wanted to recap 2018 for myself, and what went right. I know if we focus on the negatives, that's all we will focus on on forget all the good things that happened. 1. A New Job   This was by far the biggest thing for me in 2018. This was something I desperately wanted, and couldn't be more thankful to God that I got it. My first job was working at the local McDonald's. Shout out to any and all fast food and retail workers; this line of work is hard, between customers and coworkers. I was stuck there for over three years, and was a manager for almost one. I absolutely hated it, and searched for a new job for moths. Eventually, I landed an interview with Wells Fargo, and I got the job a month later. I'm four moths in, and couldn't be happier with it. Here's to the best year I can make there! 2. NaNoWriMo    NaNo was a goal of mine
